MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Ombudsman on Friday ordered the dismissal from service of Masbate Gov. Rizalina Lañete.

The resolution was made in connection with Lañete's anomalous utilization of her Priority Development Assistance Funds of P112.29 million as a House representative from 2007 to 2009.

"Masbate Governor Lañete was also perpetually disqualified from holding public office," the Ombudsman said in a statement.

Lañete is also a respondent in a plunder case filed before the Sandiganbayan. She is accused of pocketing P108 million worth of PDAF through fraudulent non-government organizations put up by businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, a main suspect in the "pork barrel" scam.

The Ombudsman also dismissed Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" Binay Jr. for his involvement in the anomalous Makati carpark building project worth P2.28 billion.
