Loyalists ask Lozano to run for president
MANILA, Philippines - Marcos loyalist Oliver Lozano is being urged to run for president next year in place of Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who has decided to seek the vice presidency.
They will ask the Kilusang Bagong Lipunan (KBL) to endorse the candidacy of Lozano, according to retired Gen. Bernabe Abella and Rodulfo Montilla, Marcos loyalist leaders from the Ilocos region.
Lozano confirmed that Marcos loyalists in the Ilocos want him to join the presidential race to dramatize their clamor for the son and namesake of the late President Ferdinand Marcos to seek the presidency.
However, he will consult former first lady Imelda Marcos before he makes any decision, he added.
Senator Marcos has confirmed that his mother was disappointed over his decision to run for vice president.
Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos has also expressed surprise over the decision of her brother.
The KBL will endorse the candidacy of Lozano if he decides to fill the party’s presidential vacuum, according to KBL president Vicente Millora.
