Kabayan exits Philippines
MANILA, Philippines - Tropical Storm Kabayan has left the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) past midnight yesterday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Weather forecaster Gilbert Aquino said Kabayan was located 425 kilometers west of Vigan, Ilocos Sur, or outside of PAR, as of 2 a.m.
Aquino said the storm, which caused heavy rainfall as it passed through Luzon on Friday, no longer had an effect on the country’s weather since Saturday.
He, however, warned of possible rain showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. He said they are not observing any weather system that could bring heavy rainfall in the next days.
The weather forecaster added that the ridge of high-pressure area, which could bring hot temperature, is affecting extreme northern Luzon.
“Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest to southeast will prevail over the western section of Luzon and coming from the northeast to southeast over the rest of Luzon,” added PAGASA in its weather bulletin.
“The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from northeast to northwest with slight to moderate seas,” the state weather bureau said. – With Jaime Laude
