'Dujuan' seen to enter PAR tonight

MANILA, Philippines - A tropical storm with international name "Dujuan" is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility by Wednesday night or Thursday morning, according to weather bureau PAGASA.

At 10 a.m., the typhoon was located 1,570 kilometers (km) east of northern Luzon, packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 85 kph.

It is likely to move west northwest at 9 kph.

The typhoon will locally be named "Jenny" once it enters the country. It is forecasted to be at 1,370 km east of Aparri, Cagayan by Thursday morning.

"Asahan ang mga pag-ulan na may kasamang pulo-pulong pagkidlat pagkulog na mararanasan ng buong Kabisayaan, ng buong Mindanao, kasama na rin ang MIMAROPA at mga lalawigan ng Cavite at Batangas," PAGASA weather forecaster Jori Loiz said in an interview with radio dzMM.

The typhoon is also expected to enhance the southwest monsoon or "habagat" which will affect Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA reminded the general public and disaster risk reduction and management councils to monitor for its next update.
