Jaworski son wounded in police bust in Makati

MANILA, Philippines -- A son of former Senator Robert Jaworski was wounded after he allegedly traded shots with police intelligence operatives in Makati City early Saturday.

According to a source, Ryan Jaworski was allegedly selling guns to an undercover operative of the Regional Police Intelligence Operating Unit (RPIOU) of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) along Pasay Road when he became aware of the sting.

According to the source, Jaworski and his companion then tried to resist arrest and fled.

Jaworski was shot in the leg after a short chase, according to the source. He was taken to the Makati Medical Center for treatment while his companion was taken into custody.

NCRPO spokesperson Supt. Kim Gonzales said they have yet to receive a report of the operation.

In 2002, Jaworski was arrested along with four friends for indiscriminately firing weapons along Florida St. in upscale North Greenhills subdivision. They told police they were shooting rats.

Jaworski’s companions were identified as Michael Castro, of 17 Lavila st., Masambong, San Francisco del Monte, and Joao Santiago Miranda, of 15 V. M. Salazar st. in BF Homes, both in Quezon City; Rodel Comendador, of 526 Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City, and Virgilio Endaya, of 8 St. Louie Compound, Sun Valley subdivision in Parañaque City.

Seized from the suspects were four Glock 9-mm. automatics, 171 9-mm. bullets and an M-16 assault rifle. All of the guns were documented, police said.

Charges of alarm and scandal were filed before a Pasig City regional trial court against the five men.
