LP vows to strengthen Roxas's presidential bid
MANILA, Philippines - The ruling Liberal Party (LP) on Monday insisted that it is not worried over reports that Sen. Grace Poe will announce her presidential bid within the week.
Senate President Franklin Drilon said that the LP will continue to build the strength of their standard bearer, Interior Secretary Manuel "Mar" Roxas II.
"From the very start I have always said that we strengthen our candidate, Secretary Roxas, rather than rely on strength of any other person. There is no change in plan," Senate President Franklin Drilon told members of the press.
Drilon noted that the LP would have to intensify its effort in looking for Roxas's running mate since Poe has decided to run for president.
Roxas earlier invited Poe to be his vice president for the 2016 national elections.
However, Poe reminded Roxas to look for other options as she is yet to decide on her plans for the forthcoming national polls.
The senator currently tops the latest presidential and vice presidential preference surveys for the 2016 polls.
