ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – The government has complied with contentious points concerning implementation of the peace agreement with the Moro National Liberation Front, an official of the MNLF said yesterday.
Habib Mujahab Hashim, chairman of the MNLF Islamic Command Council, made known this sentiment after meeting with Undersecretary Jose Lorena of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the technical informal meeting of the Tripartite Review Process at the New World Hotel in Makati City early this week. Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Teresita Quintos-Deles earlier said the meeting was in preparation for the Formal Tripartite Meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in November.
Hashim was referring to the provisions on a transition government for the MNLF, sharing of resources and the referendum.
He conceded the referendum had been conducted with the assumption of MNLF chairman Nur Misuari as governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) from 1996 to 2001.
