SM shines in Mall China Golden Mall Awards 2015

MANILA, Philippines - It was a shining moment for SM Prime Holdings Inc. at the prestigious Mall China Golden Mall Awards 2015 held recently at the Shangri-La Hotel in Shenzhen, China. 

Mall China is the most influential and authoritative third-party organization of China’s shopping center industry, and major shopping mall and retail players in the country attended the event.

SM SVP for operations Steven Tan was honored with the International Professional Leader Award, while two SM malls – SM City Xiamen and SM Lifestyle Center – received the Commercial Asset Management Company Gold Award.

Tan was cited for his insight into retail, commercial real estate and the shopping center industry in China as well as promoting and giving significant guidance on development strategy. He has worked for the past five years with SM’s China team and handles all aspects of the business, including leasing, operations and marketing.

Other recipients of the International Professional Leader Award were Michael Thomas Lloyd, chairman of The TOMLIK Group; Peter Sharp, president of Walmart Realty Asia; and Ian Thomas, chairman of Thomas Consultants Inc.

The Commercial Asset Management Company Gold Award, on the other hand, is the latest of the many awards SM’s China Malls have received. From 2011 to 2014, the Mall China Golden Mall Awards have cited SM eight times, including a Design Innovation Award for its solar project in 2013 and the Community Shopping Center and Regional Shopping Center Awards in 2014.
