MANILA, Philippines — Davao City Mayor Rodrigo "Rody" Duterte on Tuesday afternoon insisted that his decision to not run as president in 2016 is final.

"Kasi 'yung decision ko final na. Wala na tayong magagawa diyan," Duterte said in a chance interview during his visit in Malabon on Tuesday afternoon.

"Nakapagsalita na ako e," he added.

Duterte said he will retire after his term and mentioned his daughter Sara Duterte will run for Davao City mayor instead.

During his visit in Malabon on Tuesday, supporters asked Duterte to reconsider his decision.

Streamers and placards scream: "Wag mo kaming bibuguin Mayor Duterte,"  "Ikaw na lang ang aming pag-asa mawawala pa ba?" and "Ikaw ang dapat! Sayo kami Duterte," among others. There were also various paraphernalia with Duterte's name.

The ironfisted local executive then thanked his supporters but maintained his position.

Duterte also made rounds in Malabon and Navotas area in a motorcade, culminating with a speech before students of City of Malabon University for their college week.

On Monday, Duterte announced that he is officially out of the 2016 polls after making a "consensus" decision with his family.
