LPA dissipates, but rains to continue over Visayas, Mindanao

Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A low-pressure area east of Daet, Camarines Norte dissipated yesterday but the Visayas and Mindanao will experience rains in the next three days, the state weather bureau said.

Aldczar Aurelio, weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said the low-pressure area dissolved due to its friction with landmass.

No tropical cyclone or low-pressure area is expected to affect the country in the next few days, but the intertropical convergence zone, a breeding ground for low-pressure areas and potential cyclones, would still bring rains over the Visayas and Mindanao.

PAGASA said cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms will still prevail over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Central and Eastern Visayas and Mindanao until today.

Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated thunderstorms, meanwhile, will persist over the rest of the country.

Coastal waters throughout the archipelago will be slight to moderate.
