MANILA, Philippines - Makati City Rep. Abigail Binay on Tuesday said she is not surprised by the malversation raps against her and her brother Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay, saying it is part of an orchestrated effort to discredit their family and their father Vice President Jejomar Binay.
"Makikita sa demandang ito ang pagsasabwatan nang mga taong nais sirain ang aking tatay para umangat ang kanilang mga 'manok' bilang presidente," she said in a statement.
She said that the malversation of public funds charge filed before the Office of the Ombudsman by lawyer Renato Bondal came after she answered the accusations made by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV regarding the alleged misuse of her priority development assistance fund (PDAF).
"Sinabi niya na maghahain sya nang kaso laban sa akin ngayong Martes. Eh bakit si Atty. Bondal ang nag file? Hindi ba't ito'y matibay na patunay ng kontsabahan ng mga nagaakusa at nandirinig ng mga akusasyon sa Senado laban sa aking tatay at pamilya na batay lamang sa hula at Powerpoint presentation?" she said.
She reiterated that her PDAF was well accounted for, discounting allegations that the funds had been used for 'ghost projects' for her constituents in 2011.
"Suportado nang mga dokumento, mga litrato at akwal na beneficiaries. Masasabi kaya ito ni Senator Trillanes sa kanyang PDAF at mga consultants?" she said.
