INC gets permit to stay at EDSA-Shaw until Sunday

MANILA, Philippines - Influential religious group Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC) on Saturday secured a permit to stay at the part of EDSA in Mandaluyong City to continuously hold their so-called 'silent protest.'
INC members have been allowed to stay at the corner of EDSA and Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong City until Sunday. They have set up a makeshift stage in the area to hold a program.
Droves of INC followers have began trooping to EDSA in Mandaluyong and Ortigas area in Pasig City Friday late afternoon on the orders of their religious leaders.
On Thursday, hundreds of INC members went and held a vigil in front of the Department of Justice (DOJ) building on Padre Faura Street in Manila to protest alleged bias of Justice Secretary Leila de Lima on the investigation into the complaint of an expelled INC official against the INC council members.
The INC leadership secured a permit to rally in front of the DOJ office until September 4. However, instructions from the INC hierarchy to leave the DOJ compound and mass up at EDSA-Shaw area.
The INC crowd in the area is expected to balloon in the next few hours, according to one of its officials.
