MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday reported that typhoon “Ineng” is expected to leave the country by Sunday evening.

According to PAGASA weather forecaster Jori Loiz, the typhoon continues to move north-northeast and paced up from 13 kilometer per hour to 17 kph.

Loiz said typhoon “Ineng” will likely exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Sunday evening if it maintains its speed and movement. It will then head towards Japan.

As of 10 a.m., Sunday,  the weather bureau traced the typhoon’s eye 360 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness amounting to 170 kph.

Meanwhile, Loiz confirmed that public storm warning signals in some areas in Luzon were already lifted, except in some provinces in Northern Luzon.

Storm signal no. 1 is still raised in Batanes Group of Islands.

Fisherfolks are advised to stop venturing out over the seaboards of Luzon.

In a state news, PAGASA said the coastal waters over the rest of the archipelago will be moderate to rough.

On the other hand, the weather bureau alerted residents in low-lying and mountaineous areas of provinces under storm signals no.1 against possibility of flash floods and landslides.

Loiz said Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will continue to experience rains due to the typhoon-enhanced “Habagat” while Western and Central Visayas will have cloudy skies with light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms.

In its 10:00 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said thunderstorm is likely to develop over National Capital Region within the next twelve hours while Oriental Mindoro may experience to moderate to occasionally heavy rains for about two hours.

By Wednesday, the weather is expected to improve as the typhoon moves far away from the country.
