'Ineng' weakens as it moves towards Batanes

MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon 'Ineng' (Goni) has slightly weakened as it moved towards the northernmost part of the country, the state weather bureau Pagasa said on Saturday. 
 
In its 5 a.m. weather bulletin,  Pagasa said the typhoon, with the maximum sustained winds of 160 kilometer per hour and gustiness of 190 kph, is moving towards the Batanes group of islands.
 
'Ineng' has also slowed down as it moved northwest at nine kph, Pagasa said. 
 
Public storm signal no. 3 is still up in Batanes, Calayan and Babuyan Group of Islands, while signal no. 2 is hoisted in Cagayan, Apayao and Ilocos Norte.
 
Storm signal no.1 is raised in Isabela, Kalinga, Mt. Province, Abra and Ilocos Sur. 
 
Pagasa has alerted the residents of the areas against possible flashfloods and landslides.
  
Meanwhile, monsoon rains are expected due to enhanced 'habagat' over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Western Visayas. 
 
The weather disturbance is expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday.
