Megaworld commits malls, townships as voting centers

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, the retail and lifestyle development arm of retail estate giant Megaworld Corp., has committed to open its malls and townships to voters during the 2016 national elections.

The move to open voting centers in Megaworld Lifestyle Malls and Megaworld townships was presented during the signing of a memorandum of agreement between Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Andres Bautista and Megaworld first vice president and commercial division head Kevin Tan in connection with the poll body’s No Bio, No Boto campaign.

“Megaworld is one with the Comelec and the entire Filipino nation in pursuing clean, honest and fair elections in 2016. We are committed to opening our townships and malls as voting centers to give utmost convenience to voters looking to exercise their right to vote and fulfill their role in our nation’s future,” said Tan.

In line with this goal, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls has formalized its partnership with Comelec for its programs ahead of the 2016 national elections.

Under the partnership, Megaworld Lifestyle Malls will continue hosting satellite biometric registration and validation at its various townships and malls, including Eastwood Mall in Quezon City and Lucky Chinatown from August to October 2015.

This follows its successful hosting of biometric registration last July 17 at Eastwood Mall for the residents of Quezon City District 3 and Lucky Chinatown’s own registration for voters under Manila District 3, which started last July 12.
