MANILA, Philippines - While the start of the summer season has yet to be declared by the state weather bureau, Metro Manila experienced its hottest temperature so far this year at 35.1 degrees Celsius last Sunday.
Rene Paciente, senior weather forecaster of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), yesterday said the highest temperature was recorded around 3 p.m. at the Science Garden in Quezon City.
Meanwhile, PAGASA recorded yesterday the hottest temperature in Tuguegarao City in Cagayan at 35.5 degrees Celsius.
Paciente said the weather agency might declare the onset of the dry or summer season within the week as temperatures in most parts of the country continue to rise.
“The minimum temperatures are rising, that is the trend now. We are experiencing hot weather, especially during noontime,” he said.
The minimum temperatures are recorded in the morning.
Paciente said there are indications that the cold northeast monsoon has receded and that the prevailing system in the country now is the easterlies or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
He said the whole country will experience good weather until Friday.
However, by Saturday, he said the typhoon with international name Maysak is expected to dump rains over the eastern section of Luzon.
