MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has warned the public against con artists introducing themselves as police officers who will facilitate transactions in government offices.
The PNP said that recently, two women, who introduced themselves as Police Chief Inspector Princess Domingo or Patricia Domingo and Police Superintendent Grace Perez, were soliciting money to allegedly speed up government transactions
They also claimed that they are under the authority of the PNP and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
However, the PNP said that records available at its Records Management Division of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management indicate that the two women do not appear in the roster of the PNP.
With this, the DILG and the PNP have appealed to the public that any person who shall falsely misrepresent himself to be an officer, agent or representative of any department or agency of the government shall be liable under the Revised Penal Code.
Any person facilitating speedy completion of transactions for consideration shall be penalized under Republic Act 9485 or the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, the two government agencies added.
