Noy to attend Asean meet in KL next month

Aurea Calica - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino will attend the 26th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Malaysia next month.

The two-day summit will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center on April 26 and 27.

Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr., however, did not give details on the trip during the Kapihan sa Manila Bay media forum yesterday.

Malaysia hosts and facilitates the peace negotiations between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

The peace process is currently in peril due to the Jan. 25 Mamasapano incident where 44 members of the Philippine National Police-Special Action Force were killed in a clash with MILF forces, Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters and a private armed group in the course of arresting two international terrorists.
