Infographic: Philippines' arms imports since 2001
MANILA, Philippines — The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) this month generated new data on the world's arms trade, including the Philippines' arms imports in 2014.
SIPRI's data indicates that 2013 was the year when the world's arms exports to the Philippines since 2000 were highest at $75 million.
The country also imported $63 million worth of arms in 2011, and $57 million in 2014.
The chart shows trend indicator values of the Philippines' arms imports from 2001 to 2014 expressed in US millions at 1990 prices.
Since 2001, the country spent $185 million for aircraft purchases and $126 million for ships. Imports of engines were a meager $1 million, while imports of sensors are valued at $6 million in total.
Armored vehicle imports since 2001, meanwhile, have a total worth of $19 million.
