Phl to share experiences in disaster risk reduction
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines would share its experiences in disaster risk reduction and emergency response in an international conference that opens today, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said.
More than 60 delegates from the country, led by Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Soliman, are expected to attend the 3rd United Nations World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in Sendai City, Japan.
Soliman would be joined by National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Alexander Pama and Climate Change Commission (CCC) vice chairperson Lucille Sering.
In a joint press briefing last Wednesday, Soliman said the UN conference would be a great opportunity for the Philippines to share its experiences after a string of typhoons hit the country.
She added that sharing the lessons and best practices of the Philippines would be a way of giving back and giving thanks to the flood of humanitarian assistance that poured into the country from foreign governments and organizations.
