Beware of SAF 44 solicitation scam, public told

A new scam is now being circulated by unscrupulous persons asking for cash donations for the families of the 44 slain police commandos.

MANILA, Philippines - The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Monday warned the public of a new scam that solicits for cash donations allegedly for the families of the 44 slain Special Action Force (SAF) members.

NCRPO chief Director Carmelo Valmoria reiterated that the Philippine National Police (PNP) had set an account for all cash donations for the SAF casualties and for the families of the late policemen through the Land Bank of the Philippines.

Valmoria said that the NCRPO does not solicit financial support for the SAF 44 families, but thanked all the donors who extended their help.

He also encouraged the public to report to the nearest police station or contact NCRPO headquarters hotline number 838-3203 or text at cellphone numbers 0915-888-8181 and 0999-901-8181 if there are persons or groups that are using or giving unauthorized accounts or numbers for SAF 44 donations.

The existing PNP Special Assistance Fund Account is 1862-1027-77 and authorized person to be contacted for any inquiries is Police Chief Inspector Renante Pinuela of the PNP Directorate for Comptrollership who can be reached at 0917-270-5533 and 0917-857-6026.
