Ousted Laguna gov to do movie about SAF 44

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Former Laguna governor ER Ejercito is doing a movie about the fallen 44 Special Action Force (SAF) commandos of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Ejercito, based on a post on his Facebook page, said the movie would be titled “SAF.” Pedring Lopez will be the director.

The movie will carry the sub-title “Para sa Diyos, Para sa Bayan, Para sa Tao.”

Ejercito said the movie “SAF” is a fitting tribute to the 44 SAF men who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. The 44 were killed in a clash with guerrillas belonging to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front and the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters in Mamasapano, Maguindanao last Jan.25.

The movie will also tackle the personal lives of the fallen commandos.

Ejercito had starred in many movies about historical events or personalities. He starred in films like “Asyong Salonga, the kingpin of Manila” and “El Presidente,” which is about the life story of Emilio Aguinaldo. The SAF has no release date yet.

Ejercito is a son of the late movie actor George Estregan, younger brother of former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada.

He ventured into politics, particularly as governor of Laguna until he was disqualified by the Supreme Court (SC) for overspending in the 2013 elections.
