SM Megamall is Mandaluyong’s top taxpayer
MANILA, Philippines - • SM Megamall recently received the Top Taxpayer Award from Mandaluyong City in ceremonies held at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club. The award is given in recognition of SM Megamall as a key partner in the city’s continuous development. Through its taxes, the mall is able to help the city create more jobs, businesses and other vital opportunities that uplift the city’s economic growth.Mandaluyong City Mayor Benhur Abalos handed the award to SM Supermalls president Annie Garcia, SM Megamall AVP Christian Mathay and SM Megamall mall manager Jocelyn Lapid. SM SVP of corporate tax Cecilia Patricio and SM VP for operations Lisa Silerio joined them.
SM Megamall, which opened in 1991, is widely known to have spearheaded the malling phenomenon in the Philippines with an exciting tenant mix, themed floors, an Art Walk and an Art Center and a Megatrade Hall.
The Mega Fashion Hall, the newest game-changing wing of the mall, showcases a mix of international fashion brands that will give a new meaning to shopping in style.
Apart from great fashion, the Mega Fashion Hall also has specialty restaurants, as well as lifestyle elements like an Olympic-sized ice skating rink, a state-of-the-art bowling center and the first IMAX Theater in Ortigas. All these reinforce Megamall’s identity as the premier shopping, dining and lifestyle destination in the Philippines.
As a responsible member of the community, SM Megamall has spearheaded many corporate social responsibility projects such as handicap friendly facilities and environmental endeavors like a sewage treatment plant and the Trash for Crash recycling programs.
During the same event, The SM Store in SM Megamall was cited as the Major Shopping Management awardee, and the Watsons Store in SM Megamall was named the Top 7 Taxpayer awardee, further reinforcing SM’s contributions to the City of Mandaluyong.
