SWS: 51% of Pinoys believe in second chance for love

MANILA, Philippines - Half of Filipino adults believe that “love is sweeter the second time around,” a recent survey by the Social Weather Stations (SWS) showed.

The SWS poll, taken from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1 last year, found 51 percent of respondents saying they believed that love is sweeter the second time around, while 29 percent disagreed.

The December 2014 survey also found 27 percent saying they have again fallen in love, and 49 percent said they have a very happy love life.

SWS said love on the rebound is highest among live-in partners.

It said nearly half or 49 percent of men with live-in partners have fallen in love again, compared to 41 percent among single men and 20 percent among married men.

Forty-one percent of women with live-in partners have fallen in love again, compared to 29 percent among single women and 18 percent among married women.

Falling in love the second time around is slightly higher among men, the SWS said.

It said 29 percent of men have fallen in love a second time, compared to 24 percent among women.

“For both men and women, the experience has a slight tendency to be higher among the young than among the old,” the SWS noted.

Happiness with love life

SWS said those who are married are happier with their love life.

It found 60 percent of married men have a very happy love life, compared to 48 percent among men with live-in partners and 33 percent among single men.

Nearly six in 10 or 57 percent of married women have a very happy love life compared to 40 percent among women with live-in partners and 17 percent among single women.

Happiness with love life is somewhat similar among married men (60 percent) and married women (57 percent).

On the other hand, the proportion of those who say their love life could be happier is slightly higher among women with live-in partners (59 percent) than men with live-in partners (52 percent).

It found 58 percent of single women saying they do not have a love life, whereas only 37 percent of single men say so.

The Fourth Quarter 2014 SWS Survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,800 adults in Metro Manila, the balance of Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.
