MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will be staging a biking event on Friday to call for peace in Mindanao and justice to the 44 slain Special Action Force (SAF) commandos.
On February 14, the PNP and the AFP's 6th Infantry Division will spearhead the event dubbed as Bangsamoro Bike for Love or BBL, according to Cotabato Auxiliary Bishop Jose Collin Bagaforo.
Bagaforo said around 300 bikers will participate in the event, including government officials involved in the ongoing peace talks with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
"We met with the leader's multi sectoral group. Bike ride kami to Mamasapano on February 14. We call it BBL which means 'Bangsamoro Bike for Love' with the military's 6th Infantry division and PNP-ARMM (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) as lead groups. Three hundred bikers are expected," the bishop said.
Bagaforo said the 90-kilometer bike ride is to show support by several sectors to the ongoing peace process and the immediate passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law.
