MANILA, Philippines - Makati Mayor Jejomar Erwin "Junjun" Binay headed to the Senate after being issued a warrant by the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms on Thursday morning.

The Senate cited Binay and five others in contempt for refusal to attend the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearings on the alleged overpriced Makati City Hall Building 2 and the Makati Science High School.

The arrest order was issued following the discussion of the Blue Ribbon committee where the validity of Sen. Teofisto Guingona's contempt and detention orders were questioned.

According to the Makati City Hall, Binay is set to file a habeas corpus petition before the Supreme Court within the day.
