MANILA, Philippines - The temperature in Metro Manila dipped anew to 18.9 degrees Celsius yesterday, the state weather bureau said.
This was the coldest recorded in the capital since the onset of the northeast monsoon or amihan last October, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The lowest temperature was recorded at 1:50 a.m. at the PAGASA Science Garden in Quezon City.
PAGASA recorded the same temperature in Metro Manila last Saturday.
The weather bureau said the public should brace for colder temperatures in the coming days as the northeast monsoon peaks.
PAGASA noted that the months of January and February are generally the coldest in the Philippines.
The lowest temperature ever recorded in Metro Manila was at 15.1 degrees Celsius on Feb. 4, 1987 and Dec. 30, 1988.
