MANILA, Philippines - The death toll from tropical storm Seniang has risen to 53, an official of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
NDRRMC Executive Director Alexander Pama confirmed that most of the casualties were died from floods and landslides in the areas of Samar, Leyte, Cebu and Bohol.
NDRRMC figures also showed that 26 persons were injured due to Seniang. Eight persons remain missing, Pama said.
Pama added that around 56,000 families were affected by the weather disturbance in the areas of Western and Central Visayas, Regions 10, 11 and Caraga.
A total of 77 houses were partially damaged while 40 homes were totally destroyed, the NDRRMC said.
