Cops get more cash incentives

Dennis Carcamo - The Philippine Star
MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police has released some P750  million for the Performance Enhancement Incentive (PEI) of its 150,000 personnel.

Police Director Rolando Puruganan, PNP Director for Comptrollership, in his report to PNP Officer-in-Charge, Police Deputy Director General Leonardo Espina, said the individual PEI of P5,000 was credited to the individual ATM (automated teller machine) accounts of PNP personnel.

The money was incorporated in the salary and allowances for the period December 15 to December 30 received before Christmas.

Puruganan said that the Performance Based Bonus (PBB) of PNP personnel will be released on Jan. 6, 2015 via the individual ATM payroll accounts.

Some personnel who are not yet enrolled in the ATM payroll system will receive their PBB in the form of Continuous Form Checks drawn from the PNP account with the Land Bank of the Philippines.

The Department of Budget and Management earlier released funds totaling P1.3 billion to pay for the 2013 PBB of the PNP.

However, Puruganan said the release of the individual PBB was delayed due to the series of bank holidays during the closing months of the year, and the  tedious process of evaluation and review.

In November,  the PNP Directorate for Comptrollership released P1.8 billion funds to pay for the yearend bonus of PNP personnel through the PNP Finance Service.

The yearend bonus represents 50 percent of the 13th month pay and other cash benefits mandated by law for all government workers.
