ABS-CBN apologizes for Pope Francis shirts

MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN said it didn't intend to mislead or deceive the public with the Pope Francis commemorative shirts that it is selling ahead of the pontiff's visit in the country.

"There was "no intent to deceive or mislead the public through the commemorative shirts that carry statements inspired by Pope Francis’ message of love, openness, and humility," said ABS-CBN spokesman Bong Osorio in a statement sent to Philstar.com.

The network has sold shirts both online and retail stores in line with the arrival of Pope Francis in January.

The network said they also would like to "apologize if a particular statement shirt offended anyone."

The said shirts being sold were immediately pulled out upon the release of their statement.
