Metro temperature dips on Christmas Day

Ghio Ong, Helen Flores - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Metro Manila residents woke up to a chilly Christmas yesterday as temperature in the metropolis dipped to 19 degrees Celsius, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the coldest temperature was recorded at 6 a.m. at the agency’s Science Garden in Quezon City.

This was the coldest temperature recorded so far in Metro Manila since the northeast monsoon set in last October, it said.

Weathermen said the public can expect colder temperatures in January and February as the northeast monsoon peaks.

PAGASA senior weather forecaster Robert Sawi earlier said the coldest temperature recorded in Metro Manila was 15.8 degrees Celsius in January.
