LPA seen off Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines - A low-pressure area was spotted east of Mindanao yesterday but it’s still too far to affect any part of the country, state seismologists said.
The Philippines Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the low-pressure area was located 1,420 kilometers east of Mindanao at 4 a.m.
The low-pressure area is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility tomorrow, PAGASA said.
Eastern and Central Visayas, Caraga, Davao and Northern Mindanao regions will continue to have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the diffused tail-end of a cold front in the next 24 hours.
The northeast monsoon will still bring cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, the Cordilleras, Ilocos region and Central Luzon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers and thunderstorms.
PAGASA said the northeast monsoon would also bring rough to very rough seas in Aurora, the Camarines provinces, Catanduanes and in the eastern coasts of Albay, Sorsogon and Quezon, including Polillo Island.
“Fishing boats and other small sea vessels are advised not to sail. Larger sea vessels are warned against big waves,” the agency said.
