MANILA, Philippines - Tropical cyclone "Ruby" has been downgraded from a typhoon to a storm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said before Monday noon.
In a televised press briefing, PAGASA forecaster Chris Perez said the cold and dry air of the northeast monsoon has started to combined with the circulation of the cyclone, causing it to weaken into a storm.
Perez said Ruby is now packing maximum winds of 105 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of 135 kph.
Ruby is forecast to move west northwest 10 kph.
Perez said the storm is expected to make its third landfall between 11 a.m. and 12 noon over Torrijos, Marinduque and its fourth landfall over Batangas province between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
PAGASA expects Ruby to exit the Luzon landmass within 24 hours and the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Thursday evening.
