MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon "Ruby"(international name Hagupit) made landfall in Dolores, Eastern Samar on Saturday night.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the typhoon made landfall at 9:15 p.m.
The typhoon, which entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility as a super typhoon, is expected to make five more landfalls in the provinces of Mindoro and Romblon.
PAGASA said that the landfall was associated with strong winds, heavy to intense rainfall and storm surge as high as 4.5 meters or 14.7 feet.
In its earlier update, PAGASA said the typhoon was packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 210 kph as of 8 a.m.
It was moving west at a speed of 16 kph.
