UNA: Binay-Poe unbeatable
MANILA, Philippines - Vice President Jejomar Binay is considering Senator Grace Poe to be his running mate and their tandem is expected to be unbeatable in the 2016 presidential elections.
Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla, the Vice President’s spokesman for political affairs, said this yesterday when he was asked if the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) could pick Poe as Binay’s running mate in 2016.
“A Binay-Poe ticket is unbeatable,” Remulla said in a text message to The STAR.
In another interview in Cavite City yesterday, Remulla confirmed that Poe’s name has been included in the list of possible running mates for Binay.
“There have been no offers but there have been discussions,” Remulla said.
Remulla said the Vice President strongly believes in Poe’s competence as a senator.
“Let’s wait until February (2016), we will know who will really be the tandem,” he said.
At the event of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) in Cavite City, Binay said he is open to a possible tandem with Poe.
“Yes, you know in politics everything is possible,” Binay said.
Among the other names being floated as Binay’s possible running mate include Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, businessman Manny Pangilinan and boxing champion Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao.
Meanwhile, some personalities who were reportedly joining Binay’s senatorial slate include Buhay party-list group Rep. Lito Atienza and Valenzuela City Rep. Sherwin Gatchalian.
