PNP earmarks P335M for repair of Yolanda-hit police stations

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine National Police (PNP) has allotted P335 million for infrastructure rehabilitation and reconstruction work to restore police facilities destroyed by super typhoon Yolanda last year.
 
Police Director Juanito B Vaño Jr., PNP Director for Logistics , said that 13 Notices of Fund Availability have been issued by the Directorate for Comptrollership in June 2014, allocating funds totaling P335.3 million to rebuild PNP infrastructure damaged by Yolanda in Bicol, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), Western Visayas, Eastern Visayas and Caraga regions.
 
In Eastern Visayas, the hardest hit among the police regional offfices, the PNP  earmarked P294 million funds to rehabilitate 183 damaged police stations and office buildings in the entire region. 
 
As of October 17, Vaño said full-scale construction work is ongoing to rebuild 15 municipal police stations in Leyte, each costing P4.6 million. 
 
Seven other municipal police stations in the province are undergoing various stages of the required administrative and technical processes to start reconstruction.
 
Repair work is also ongoing in other heavily damaged support facilities and offices at the regional headquarters in Camp Kangleon, Palo, Leyte, the PNP official said. 
 
The PNP also allocated funds to Police Regional Office 4B (P470,000), PRO5 (P159,000), PRO6 (P30.8 million), PRO7 (P8.6 million), and  PRO13 (P440,000).
