Rainy All Saints’ Day in Bicol, Visayas

MANILA, Philippines - A rainy All Saints’ Day is expected in the Bicol region and in Eastern and Central Visayas due to a low-pressure area spotted east of the country yesterday.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said these areas would have cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms today and tomorrow.

Cagayan Valley will have cloudy skies with light rains, while Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

As of 4 p.m. yesterday, the low-pressure area was spotted 1,700 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar.

PAGASA senior weather forecaster Mario Palafox said the weather system is expected to enter the Philippine area of responsibility within the next 24 hours and has a chance of intensifying into a tropical cyclone.

The next cyclone will be named Paeng.

The low-pressure area was forecast to move closer toward the eastern section of Luzon tomorrow, PAGASA said.

By Sunday, the Cagayan Valley, the provinces of Quezon and Aurora and the Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions will be cloudy with moderate to occasionally heavy rainshowers and thunderstorms.

Metro Manila, the provinces of Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal and Laguna, and the rest of the Visayas will be cloudy with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms.
