MANILA, Philippines - Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco expressed his disapproval of the impending debate between Vice President Jejomar Binay and Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.
During an interview with DZMM, the interim president for United Nationalist Alliance said that Trillanes is a liar and that it would be useless for Binay to have a debate with the senator.
"Paano naman makikipag-debate si VP Binay sa taong walang isang salita? Matapos n'yang sabihin 'to, bukas iba na sasabihin n'ya. So it's useless to debate with someone like that," Tiangco said.
Tiangco, a Binay ally, also noted that the vice president was ill-advised to go through with the debate.
The lawmaker further said that the Office of the Ombudsman is the right venue for Binay to face allegations on corruption.
"Yan ho ang tamang proseso, ngayon kung ayaw natin na may prosesong ganyan, palitan na ho natin ang ating saligang batas. Magpaliwanag na lang po at magdebate na lang po," the Navotas lawmaker said.
Binay and Trillanes is set to have a debate in November regarding the former's alleged corruption.
