More documents, witnesses to prove Binay owns Batangas estate - Trillanes

Louis Bacani - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Expect more surprises on Thursday when the Senate Blue Ribbon Sub-committee resumes its inquiry into the corruption allegations hurled against Vice President Jejomar Binay, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV said on Monday.

In an interview on ANC's Headstart, Trillanes said they will show in the next Senate hearing additional documents proving that Binay owns the alleged 350-hectare agricultural estate in Rosario, Batangas.

"We will present something really, very clear to everyone," Trillanes told ANC. "It will corroborate earlier testimonies."

Trillanes said there will also be more witnesses and evidence to be presented in the next hearing.

He said Binay's alleged dummy, businessman Antonio Tiu, will also be given another chance to prove his claim that he owns the Batangas property.

Last week, Tiu testified for the first time at the Senate probe but he failed to present a title of the property under his name.

Following his Senate testimony, Tiu allowed Trillanes and the media to go inside the controversial estate.

Trillanes recalled that even residents within the area say that the property is owned by the Binays.

"Is the Vice President saying that the people of Rosario, Batangas are liars? That's his implications," he said.

Trillanes also said the Senate investigation has yet to zero in on five other public buildings in Makati that would "show a pattern of behavior about the overpricing" under the Binays.
