MANILA, Philippines - The Sandiganbayan has allowed retired Police Director Eliseo dela Paz to leave the Philippine National Police Custodial Center to attend his mother's wake and burial.
In a resolution, the anti-graft court's Fourth Division granted Dela Paz's urgent motion to be allowed furlough for humanitarian considerations.
Dela Paz will be escorted from the PNP detention facility from 3 p.m. of October 24 until 3 p.m. of October 25 to attend the wake of his mother, Dominga dela Paz, at the Villamor Airbase Chapel in Pasay City and her burial at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.
The former PNP comptroller earlier requested the tribunal that he be allowed to leave the detention facility from October 21 to October 25.
Dela Paz is facing two counts of graft and two counts of malversation in connection with the alleged the ghost repair and maintenance of V-150 armored vehicles in 2007 amounting to over P385 million.
