MANILA, Philippines - The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) is organizing the debate between Vice President Jejomar Binay and Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV.
Herman Basbaño, KBP Vice President, said Friday over Radio Singko that the face-off will likely be held in the next two weeks.
The camp of Binay proposed that the event be held on November 10 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
Basbaño said it will be a "no holds barred" verbal encounter between the two officials.
Basbaño urged broadcasting firms to cover and air the event as it would be of great public interest.
He said the organization is formulating protocols and finalizing the debate's format.
Binay has been accused of corruption as former Makati City mayor in testimonies before the Senate Blue Ribbon subcommittee during the past weeks.
Binay challenged Trillanes, a member of the Senate panel and critical of the Vice President, to argue with him face to face in an organized event.
Trillanes accepted the challenge Wednesday as another hearing is held probing the Binay family's alleged unexplained wealth.
