MANILA, Philippines - An endorsement from President Aquino will ensure the election victory of Interior and Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II in the 2016 presidential elections, Iloilo Rep. Jerry Treñas said yesterday.
He debunked claims that the ruling Liberal Party has no viable presidential candidate, saying Aquino’s endorsement “is a sure ticket to victory” for administration bets in the 2016 polls.
“Secretary Roxas has been one of President Aquino’s most trusted troubleshooters. He shares the vision of President Aquino on where our country should go after 2016, so he is not just a viable candidate for LP (Liberal Party) but one who is competent and unblemished from corruption,” Treñas said.
He said the recent Pulse Asia survey showing a dramatic improvement in the trust rating of Roxas “is a result of his unrelenting effort and focus to help the Aquino administration in its fight against corruption, poverty and criminality.”
“I think that he will be unbeatable in 2016 if endorsed by President Aquino,” he said.
“Anyone who will be endorsed by Aquino in 2016 will win and where else can he pick his candidate but from his own party?”
