Patricia Lourdes Viray - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Typhoon "Vongfong" may enter the Philippine Area or Responsibility (PAR) tonight or on Wednesday morning.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that as of 4 a.m. today, the typhoon was still outside the PAR. It's center was estimated at 1,700 kilometers east of Northern Luzon.

The typhoon was packing maximum sustaind winds of 120 kilometer per hour and gustiness of up to 150 kph.

The tropical cyclone will be called "Ompong" once it enters the PAR.

The weather bureau said that the typhoon was not expected to make landfall, but it may stay for at least three days within the PAR.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said that Palawan, Visayas and Mindanao will experience cloudy skies, rainshowers and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone.

Northern Luzon's coastal waters will be rough due to winds blowing from the northeast.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be partly cloudy and may experience chances of isolated thunderstorms.
