Over 2M persons affected by Mario - NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines - More than 2 million people in various parts of the country were affected by tropical storm Mario, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Tuesday.
In its latest update, the NDRRMC reported that a total 453,190 families were affected by Mario in regions 1, 2, 3, 4-A, 4-B, 5, 7, Cordillera Administrative
Region and the National Capital Region.
Of the total affected population, more than 2,000 families or 8,000 persons are still staying at 35 evacuation centers, NDRRMC added.
Meanwhile, the state emergency response body said the death toll from Mario still stands at 18 while 16 persons are injured. Four individuals are still missing.
The total cost of damage in agriculture and infrastructure has been placed at P3.3 billion, the NDRRMC said.
To date, the national government and non-government organizations have shelled out at least P41.5 million worth of relief assistance to the affected families.
