MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The US Navy's guided missile destroyer USS Halsey arrived in Subic Bay in the northern Philippine province of Zambales today for a port call.

The US Embassy here said in a statement that USS Halsey, an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer, is in the country to replenish supplies and allow the crew to rest.

The ship, named after the late Admiral William Frederick Halsey, Jr., is assigned with the US Pacific Fleet. Homeported in Hawaii, USS Halsey is under the command of Commander Linda Seymour.

The guided missile destroyer is the fourth US ship currently docked at the Subic Bay. Submarine tender USS Frank Cable arrived on Friday for a port call while amphibious assault ship USS Peleliu and landing ship USS Germantown will participate in naval exercises in South China Sea.
