GSIS releases P16 B loans for Yolanda victims

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – State pension fund Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has released P16 billion in emergency loans to survivors of Super Typhoon Yolanda.

Of the amount, P2 billion went to the residents of hardest-hit areas in Negros Occidental, GSIS senior vice president for Visayas-Mindanao Group Dionisio Ebdane Jr. said.

He said P12 billion was allotted for the Home Emergency Loan Program, while P4 billion was set aside for emergency loans.

GSIS Bacolod branch manager Vilma Fuentes said the beneficiaries included typhoon victims in the cities of Talisay, Silay, Victorias, Cadiz, Sagay, Escalante and San Carlos, and the municipalities of E. B. Magalona, Manapla, Toboso, Calatrava and Don Salvador Benedicto in Negros Occidental.
