MANILA, Philippines - Classes in Metro Manila and other areas in Luzon were suspended on Friday due to heavy rains caused by the combined effect of Tropical Storm Mario and the southwest monsoon.
As of 9 a.m. classes in all levels have been suspended in:
Metro Manila
Zambales
Bataan
Pampanga
Tarlac
Nueva Ecija
Bulacan
Rizal
Cavite
Laguna
Quezon including Polillo Island
Batangas
Mindoro provinces
Camarines Norte
Marinduque
Pangasinan
Weather bureau PAGASA has not included Metro Manila in areas placed under storm alert, but several streets around the capital region were flooded due to heavy rains.
PAGASA has also issued an orange rainfall warning, which means "flooding is imminent," for Metro Manila, Rizal and Laguna.
Yellow warning was issued for Cavite, Batangas and Quezon.
