Council OKs higher SRP for coffee, candles

MANILA, Philippines - The National Price Coordinating Council (NPCC) has approved higher suggested retail prices (SRP) for certain brands of coffee, fish sauce and candles due to the increase in the cost of raw materials.

Trade Undersecretary Victor Mario Dimagiba said the last price increase for these goods was two years ago.

The newly approved SRPs are P20.75 from P19.95 for every 25 kilogram of Nescafe Classic coffee, P17.60 from P17.35 for 350 milliliter Datu Puti Patis, and P20.40 from P20.05 for 350 ml Nelicom Patis.

For a 10-piece pack of white Manila Wax Esperma #2, P46 from P44.75; 20-piece pack of white Manila Wax Esperma #3, P56 from P54.75; 20-piece pack of white Manila Wax Esperma #4, P40.50 from P39.75; four-piece pack of white Manila Wax Esperma #14, P46 from P44.75; and two-piece pack of the white Manila Wax Esperma #16, P51 from P49.75.

For a six-piece pack of white or yellow Manila Wax Votive #1, P71 from P69.75; six-piece pack of white or yellow Manila Wax Votive #2, P61 from P59.75; and six-piece pack of white or yellow Manila Wax Votive #3, P51 from P49.75.

The new SRPs will take effect on Sept. 23.

Last month, the Department of Trade and Industry announced that higher SRPs have been approved for the Esperma variety of Liwanag candles.

The new SRPs, which would be in effect starting Sept. 17, are for 20-piece pack of white Liwanag Esperma #3, P44.75 from P43.75; 20-piece pack of white Liwanag Esperma #5, P62 from P60.75; four-piece pack of white Liwanag Esperma #16, P32.50 from P31.75; four-piece pack of white Liwanag Esperma #18 - P53 from P51.75; and two-piece pack of the larger white Liwanag Esperma #24, P125.60 from P122.75.
