MANILA, Philippines — Senator Teofisto "TG" Guingona III pledged his support to a private sector-led campaign that aims to promote common ethical standards in society.
"Corruption undermines democratic process, impedes social, political, and economic growth, and erodes the moral fiber of our society," said Guingona, citing the advocacy of Integrite Initiative.
Guingona also said that the responsibility to operate affairs ethically rests on their shoulders as government workers.
The initiative to prevent corruption should be supported by all of its stakeholders by cultivating a culture of transparency, accountability and integrity, the group said.
The senator pledged to combat graft in any form and in all activities, among others.
Integrity Initiative recently announced the upcoming Integrity Summit 2014 wherein leaders and key personalities from business, government, youth and the church will gather to discuss issues and share insights. The campaign hashtag #IntegrityNationNow was also launched.
