MANILA, Philippines - One of the former employees of businesswoman Janet Napoles on Thursday admitted that she forged the signatures of other incorporators of a dummy foundation established by her employer.
During her testimony at the bail hearing of Senator Ramon Revilla Jr., Merlina Sunas, ex-project coordinator of Napoles, told the First Division of Sandiganbayan, chaired by Associate Justice Efren dela Cruz, that Napoles ordered her to forge the signatures of incorporators of the People's Organization for Progress and Development Foundation Inc.
Among those incorporator included, another former employee of JLN Inc., Benhur Luy, Sunas said.
"Hindi po nila alam na ipinirma ko sila. Basta sinabi po ni Mrs. Napoles na ipirma na lang mga pangalan nila," said Sunas, who was designated by Napoles to be the non-government organization's president.
Asked by a defense lawyer during cross examination why she obeyed Napoles, Sunas replied "Siya po ang boss namin at lahat ng utos niya sa amin ay aming susundin."
However, Sunas pointed out that her foundation was not used for the priority development fund of Revilla.
Before being employed in JLN Corp., Sunas said she had been dealing with Napoles, being a clerk at the Philippine Navy assigned at the Navy Construction Brigade from 1997 until 1999.
Sunas said she had been processing the procurement documents and checks for Napoles who got contracts for spare parts of light and heavy naval vessels.
While working with the Navy, Sunas said she also worked part time with JoCris Trading, a company owned by Napoles.
She said she worked with the Napoles firm after her job at the Navy.
"Minsan nga po inuuwi ko pa 'yung mga papeles sa bahay namin," she said.
